The Seminole Tribe of Florida is set to expand its gaming offerings following the recent Supreme Court ruling to lift the temporary ban on sports betting in Florida. The tribe has announced plans to introduce craps, roulette, and sports betting at all six of its gaming facilities in Florida, in accordance with the Gaming Compact signed with the state in 2021. The launch dates for these new gaming products have been revealed, with the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, the Seminole Classic Casino in Hollywood, and the Seminole Casino Coconut Creek set to launch on Thursday, December 7th, 2023. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa will follow on Friday, December 8th, 2023, while the Seminole Casino Immokalee and Seminole Brighton Casino will launch on Monday, December 11th, 2023.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has praised the tribe’s initiative, stating that it will boost job creation, tourism, and revenue for the state. Jim Allen, CEO of Seminole Gaming and Chairperson of Hard Rock International, anticipates the creation of over 1,000 new jobs as a result of the expansion.
The Supreme Court’s decision to allow the Seminole Tribe to provide online sports betting products and services in Florida came after the court declined to put a federal appeals court ruling on hold. The court’s ruling effectively gives the tribe the go-ahead to launch sports betting and expanded gaming options at its casino properties.
Overall, the Seminole Tribe’s expansion of gaming offerings in Florida is seen as a historic milestone that positions the state alongside the world’s leading gaming destinations. The launch of these new gaming products is expected to have a significant economic impact and generate increased revenue for both the tribe and the state.
